A few weeks back, my Bible class and I started diving into the Gospels. Each week we specifically study one of the lessons that spans across all four Gospels. This has allowed us time to develop our understanding of Jesus throughout these stories. During each story we add descriptors of Jesus (God come to earth) onto our class chart.
This ongoing chart has created an amazing visual to help us grasp the character of Jesus and what He brings to every part we study. We will continue to add to it each week as we work toward the lessons we can learn from the crucifixion.
My Jesus Takeaway
The more we have added to this chart, the more my view of God has expanded, the more I was reminded of who He is, the more I remembered who He has been in my life, and the more I see how my students see Him.
This chart has made me realize the importance of documenting what God means in my daily life. What seems like a small thing today….over time will become something so much more. What I feel I will remember, often slips my mind unless I have a reminder that takes me back to the moment He “restored” me. Or the day He “filled” me. Or the day he showed me “grace”. Most importantly, the day He “saved” me.
Many journal their God interactions. Some of us connect those moments to a song. Some of us blog them.
If you do not have a method of tracking who God has been for you, I encourage you to start. Place a notecard next to your desk at work, and add descriptors that you see each day. Find a notebook to journal your thoughts, however insignificant or rough, and go back to them at a later date. Find a verse that applies to your current struggle, memorize it and as He grows you through this time, make the verse part of that story.
God shows Himself often in our lives. Watch for it. Ask for it. Track it. It will change you.
